Well, that was a busy start to the season!

Since opening at Easter, it has been all go…

We’ve welcomed plenty of guests to our log cabins and fishing breaks, and it’s been a joy to see so many happy faces. The fishing has been excellent, and nature is putting on a show — the trees are greening up, ducklings and goslings are everywhere, and the pools are alive with tadpoles. Swallows have returned too, bringing with them the full sense of spring.

Ecclestone Pool has been fishing really well, with Carp, Roach, Perch, and Crucians being caught on both the waggler and method feeder. The weather may be unpredictable, but those who wait for the evening bite are being rewarded — fish are feeding hard in the last hours of daylight. “House” pellets, small boilies, hemp, and corn are all proving successful. Many of the fish caught look pristine, like they’ve never been caught before.

Blurton Pool remains a challenging spot when targeting the bigger carp, but it’s producing results for those who are patient. Early May saw two 30lb+ fish caught in a single day, including a joint pool record of 35lb. We now have both a mirror and a common carp at that weight. One regular guest landed a 35lb leather carp and a 27lb mirror, while another caught a 16lb fully-scaled mirror and a 32lb fully-scaled beauty. Plenty of other 20s and double-figure fish have been caught, too.

The boilies we stock — Active Bait Solutions freezer bait — are continuing to deliver. A well-placed bed of broken boilies in the margins is often all it takes to tempt one of our larger residents.

If you’re thinking about a fishing getaway, we have more than just great angling. Our site is a haven for rural retreats, offering peace, fresh air, and the chance to unwind. We also offer a selection of pet friendly lodges, so your four-legged friends don’t have to miss out on the fun. For those looking to relax after a long day on the bank, we also have fishing lodges with hot tubs — the perfect way to end the day.

Please note: day ticket angling is occasionally available, but tickets must be pre-booked. Please don’t just turn up and expect to fish.

And finally — don’t miss out on our special 10% discount for cabin stays in June!
